Interview with Duygu Eroğlu: Yoga and the Art of Music

This interview came about as a natural result of our paths crossing at Inspera. We wanted to share this meeting with you—a moment when we found ourselves on the same artistic and spiritual ground, which turned into a heartfelt conversation. Because the space Duygu creates goes beyond a mere physical practice; through her voice, breath, and words, she speaks to us in a language we’ve forgotten.

May these lines serve as a reflection of the sincere dialogue that took place between us—one that is open to all—and as a shared window into the transformative power of stillness and intuitive flow.

Yoga and Music: An Artistic Journey

The Beginning of Her Yoga Practice

Yoga entered Duygu’s life through someone she met in London in 2010. After approximately six years of studio practice, she completed her first teacher training and has been teaching classes and continuing her education for the past nine years. Her yoga practice is not merely a physical discipline; it has become the beginning of a spiritual and emotional transformation.

The Depth of Musical Roots

Music, on the other hand, is a field rooted in her heritage. Her childhood was shaped by the folk songs and ballads her mother listened to at home. Although she wasn’t aware of it at the time, this musical legacy took root deep within her and eventually manifested as a growing creativity.

Beginning to Write in London

Duygu began writing in London in 2008. Her loneliness and the intensity of her emotions gave rise to her first written expressions. As the process unfolded, these simple prose pieces turned into poems, and the poems into songs. Every stage of her artistic journey progressed in parallel with her music and yoga practice.

2016: A Turning Point

The year 2016 marked a significant turning point in Duygu’s life. Her first single, “Susan Hanım,” was released, and she also completed her first teacher training program and began teaching classes. This year served as a milestone marking a period when the arts of yoga and music became more deeply intertwined.

Artistic Transformation and Intuitive Flow

Duygu’s creative process is a harmonious blend of spiritual practice and artistic expression. Whether in the classes she teaches as a yoga instructor or in the songs she creates as a musician, she serves the same energy and the same intention. The way she speaks to us through her voice, breath, and words—in a language we have forgotten in the modern world—forms the core of this interview.
